Hard work is not enough
Hard work is not enough

From Keir Starmer

“Hard work isn’t paying anymore. Everywhere you go, the story is the same. Everywhere you look, things are broken. Today, Labour has set the path for the biggest-ever transfer of power from Westminster back to the British people. It means that, at the next election, Labour will stand on a promise of new powers for towns, cities, regions and nations to reignite our economy, while restoring trust in our politics and reuniting our country.
Here’s how:

  • Reigniting our economy: communities will have new powers over skills, transport, planning and culture, all driving clusters of economic growth.
  • Rebuilding trust in politics: we’ll clean up Westminster with a new set of ethical standards, create formal partnerships between Government and devolved authorities and replace the House of Lords with a democratically elected second chamber.
  • Reuniting our country: we’ll bring the country together based on our shared values and priorities. We will tackle climate change – with our Green Prosperity Plan – and address economic inequality across Britain

Power directly in your hands, with a government that matches your ambition. A new voice in a reformed, modern United Kingdom. Today is the start of this journey. Together, we can build a fairer, greener, more dynamic Britain.

This is a matter of personal conviction to me.”

Keir Starmer
Leader of the Labour Party
